Delighted to announce that Outbox are finalists in The David Awards 'Most inspired use of technology ' category.
A business which leverages technology in many guises to enhance efficiency, mobility and keep overheads to a minimum. In this category, judges are not necessarily looking for a business whose core business is technical (though it may be), but one where the owner makes good use of technology to gain efficiencies, for instance through time- or cost-saving, or by delivering a service remotely using technology. It may also apply to a business which develops its own technology to deliver a core product or service to clients.

I seldom get time to sit and enjoy a good book but having an iPad enables me to catch a few minutes here and there while I’m out and about.
I had not read more a chapter or two of Richard Branson’s book, ‘Screw Business as Usual’ before it dawned on me that this is something I perhaps had been doing since I was a child. No, not running a business, but giving time and skills to others to help the community in order to better our lives.
From my time as a Girl Guide and visiting the retirement home residents to play weekly bingo to being a Brownie leader or Chair of the Ladies Circle (Round Table), I have always been involved in some way with charity or voluntary organisations that have a united mission to make our world a more caring place.
Outbox is delighted to be supporting the Sport Expo The Outside In to be held at Pinehurst School on March 3rd. It is New Zealand's largest sport expo so pop the date in your diary and check out their website http://www.sportexpotheoutsidein.com/index.html
Do you remember Julie Lassen - Celebrant, she won our Win a Website Competition.
Well here it is - it was wonderful to work on. Julie is an amazing lady - so many testimonials from marriages, civil unions, renewal of vows, naming ceremonies, surprise weddings and even elopements.
She provided many great pictures to work with and a range of other services Julie recommends to add to her 'links' page. I hope it will prove to be an excellent resource for couples and of course create more business for Julie.

Pleased to be featured as a success story in this months issue of FYI, the magazine of the North Harbour Business Association (NHBA) based in Albany, on the North Shore of Auckland.
The article appears on Page 21 of the online and print copies of the November 2012 issue.
Julie Lassen of NZ Marriages, for winning the 'Win a Website' competition. Julie is a marriage celebrant in Christchurch and I am delighted to have had the pleasure of telling her of her win this morning. I look forward to creating an exciting new site for Julie very soon.
Adam Welford from Maxar Architecture on winning the 'Win Edible Blooms for a Year' competition on our stand at the MyBiz Expo in Auckland last week. Hope you enjoy all the chocolates Adam and thank you to Sarah of Edible Blooms for donating such a yummy prize. They have lots of corporate gifts for Christmas so give Sarah a call today on 0508 EDIBLE (334253).
The past month has been rather social, not perhaps in the party way, but in boosting business by exhibiting, networking and press coverage. These events are not as daunting as you may think and I really enjoy interacting with a wide range of businesses and learning from their successes.
A particular favourite was the Blue Banana Brainstorm lunch with Annah Stretton in the Euro private dining room. A select group organised by Linda Coles, who come together over a delightful lunch to learn from a speaker ‘How they grew it’, to network and share experiences. I would highly recommend joining this LinkedIn group and attending the next lunch at Euro if you are available.
The Auckland Tourism Group run The Effective Network, bringing together over 100 local business people to network. This meeting was at The Riverhead Tavern and discussed the pros and cons of discounting services and products while enjoying the fabulous view, wine and nibbles.
Earlier in the month Outbox exhibited at the Venus Womens Expo in Takapuna, an extremely busy evening with a constant stream of visitors to the stand. I hope this was due to our services but it could have equally attributed to the view of the recently auctioned ‘Block Houses’ out of the window!
The National Business Review wrote about the Virtual Professional industry raising the awareness around New Zealand of the benefits that outsourcing can bring especially to small and medium sized companies. Another article in the North Shore Times highlighted the award Outbox won last month and this led to a number of calls from readers wishing to know more about our services.
During October I shall be at the MyBiz Expo and the Ladies Who Lunch Seriously mini expo and showcase.
There are certainly many opportunities around to promote your company, visit our Pinterest board for more ideas; we hope to see you at one of them soon.
